Thailand is going through a real heat as the hot season has already begun: on Thursday, in the Bangkok district of Bang Na, the air temperature is expected to reach 50.2 degrees Celsius.
The Thai Meteorological Department has classified this heat level as "very dangerous" and warns of the risk of heat stroke and muscle cramps in those.
The department also issued a severe weather warning for upper Thailand, predicting thunderstorms, strong winds and hail in places. This weather will last from Thursday until the end of the week. The storms will mainly affect local residents in the northern and eastern parts of Thailand.
Farmers are being urged to protect crops and livestock. A recent tragic example of the dangers of heatstroke was the death of politician and tycoon Chonsawat Asawahame at the age of 54.
The Department recommends that heat stroke victims use cold water compresses and drink plenty of fluids.
