Penalties for driving without a license in Thailand have been tightened
25.01.2023
Since January 9, Thailand has tightened the punishment for motorists who do not have a valid license.
A point system was introduced, according to which points are deducted for any violations. If a driver's points scale reaches zero, they will be banned from driving for up to three months. With multiple suspensions from driving, the license can be completely revoked. The maximum penalty that can be imposed is a fine of THB 10,000 and three months in prison. It is not yet clear whether the new rules will apply to foreign drivers, as Thailand does not recognize their right to drive on its own roads, which means that driving without a license will be considered an offense.
