SEA Games 2025: Bangkok prepares for a spectacular sports festival

On Wednesday, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt visited the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, where he was presented with the flag of the South East Asian Games (SEA Games) by Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, General Tee Ban. Thailand is gearing up to host the next games in 2025.

The 33rd East Asian Games are scheduled to take place from December 9 to 20, 2025, and most of the competitions will be held in Bangkok, while the maritime competitions will be held in the coastal provinces of Chonburi and Songkhla.

Nakhon Ratchasima has been selected to host the Asean Para Games scheduled for January 20-26, 2026.

Chonburi Deputy Governor Neeti Wivatwanich, Songkhla Governor Jetsada Jitrat and Thai Sports Authority Deputy Governor Prachum Bunthiam attended the closing ceremony at Morodok Tacho National Stadium along with Chadchart.

Thailand also introduced its culture and traditions to welcome the participating countries of the next games with the show "Sawadi SEA Games" developed by Kid Buak Sipp, winner of Thailand Got Talent Season 1 in 2011. Vietnam has won the most gold medals (136) this year in Cambodia, followed by Thailand (108), Indonesia (86) and Cambodia (81). Thai athletes have also won 96 silver medals and 108 bronze medals for a total of 312.

With the East Asian Games 2025 approaching, Bangkok is gearing up for a great sports festival that will bring the countries of the region together in intense competition. Thailand, as the host of the games, carefully prepares the infrastructure and facilities for the convenience and comfort of participants and guests.

As the cultural, economic and entertainment center of Thailand, Bangkok attracts tourists from all over the world with its magnificent temples, modern skyscrapers, street food and rich heritage.
