From June, Thailand will charge foreign tourists an additional fee
The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, led by Pipat Ratchakitprakan, has announced that foreign travelers intending to visit Thailand are required to pay an additional fee of around $9.
The Bangkok Post recently reported that a fee of 300 baht (about $9) is being introduced in June. These proceeds will be used to support the tourism industry and help injured travelers. The minister explained that citizens who have a work permit are exempted from paying fees. In addition, benefits will apply to those who have a border pass. The minister estimates that about 9 million tourists will visit Thailand this year.
