From April 1, 2023, Russian tourists can stay in Thailand without a visa for no more than 30 days.
Previously, the period of visa-free stay in Thailand was no more than 45 days.
Already today, arrived tourists received stamps in their passports with permission for a visa-free stay - for 30 days.
However, experts do not exclude the possibility of extending the visa-free period in the future, especially given the positive effect that this innovation had earlier on tourism.
In addition, if tourists plan to stay in Thailand for more than 30 days, they need to apply for a tourist visa. Such a visa allows travelers to reside in the country for up to 90 days, including a 30-day extension. At the same time, guests of Thailand should take into account that the process of obtaining a visa may take some time, so it is worth planning your trip in advance.
However, all this does not mean that the tourism industry will suffer greatly. Russian tourists who come to Thailand for the purpose of recreation will not notice significant changes.
Compared to remote workers who may reside in the country for years, tourists spend much less time in Thailand, between 10 and 14 days. This means that a 30-day visa has always been more than enough for tourists, and a change in visa policy will not affect their trip in any way.
