The number of calls and messages from scammers in Thailand increased by 165%

According to Whoscall's annual report, a mobile caller ID app, fraudulent calls and messages are an increasing problem worldwide. In 2022, the app detected 405.4 million calls and messages from scammers worldwide.

In Thailand, the report shows a 165% increase in such calls, resulting in 17 million attempts to scam people over the phone in 2022.

In addition, 13 million Thai mobile numbers were leaked to the network during the year, about half of all mobile numbers in Thailand. The report indicated that seven out of ten messages received by Thais were either scams or spam.

Manwu Ju, COO of Gogolook, expressed concern about the growing threat of scammers. He noted that the fraud industry is projected to reach $129.2 billion by 2029. Joo also added that in order to combat the growing threat of fraud, Gogolook is working with several strategic partners around the world to develop innovative solutions to combat these threats and protect customers from malicious attacks.
