Hua Hin hosts the first international Muay Thai festival
Hua Hin in Prachuap Khirikan province will host the first international Muay Thai festival from 4 to 6 February 2023.
At this grand event, 5,000 Muay Thai masters will come together to perform the wai kru ceremony, a traditional ritual that pays respect to their teachers.
The event includes fights and lessons from outstanding boxers, seminars and meetings with Muay Thai experts, an exhibition dedicated to its history, and photo shoots with famous fighters.
By bringing together such a huge number of martial artists for this ceremony, it will be listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest wai-kru ever seen.
In addition to this spectacle, the festival also provides a platform for Muay Thai camps to showcase their innovations and products related to the martial art. The Thai Tourism Authority, the Royal Thai Army and the World Boxing Council are organizing the event, which aims to promote Muay Thai as an Olympic sport from 2023.
