Four Thais, including a beauty pageant contestant, have been arrested by police for kidnapping a wealthy Chinese man and demanding a ransom of 4 million baht. All the defendants pleaded guilty to kidnapping Wang Namphen, who was the former boyfriend of beauty pageant contestant Petcharada "Nam Phet" Saengsakul.
As it turned out during the investigation, the abduction took place in the victim's apartment on Sathorn Street, where three men appeared and took him away in a large plastic box. They then transported him to Hua Hin in a BMW that belonged to a beauty pageant contestant. There he was beaten and demanded a ransom of 4 million baht.
Halmun, who is Petcharada's current boyfriend, is reportedly unemployed and suffering from a gambling problem. The police determined that they planned Wang's kidnapping, knowing of his wealth, in order to demand more money from him.
When kidnapped in Hua Hin, Wang (kidnapped) was forced to transfer 2,900,000 baht to the account of a criminal named Kob. He also made a transfer of 1.03 million baht to the account of a woman whom the police identified as Sarita. The police said that of the 3.93 million baht transferred by Wang, they had already seized 2.3 million baht.
Such cruel and ruthless behavior of criminals shows how important it is to be careful and not trust strangers. Never forget that money can draw attention to itself and lead to dangerous consequences. Safety must always come first.
