On Thursday, on the eve of the celebration of the Thai New Year - Songkran, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha wished all the people of Thailand health and success in life. He urged people to celebrate this holiday in a big way and focus on safety when traveling to their hometowns or tourist destinations.
State Representative Anucha Burapachaisri noted that Songkran is a unique cultural event known throughout the world, passed down from generation to generation. He also emphasized that this is a time when people can spend time with their loved ones.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to all government officials and volunteers who are helping to ensure the safety of people's travels and wished safe service to the military personnel protecting Thailand's borders.
"With the help of the power of Phra Sri Rattanathrai and sacred objects, and the majesty of the King and Queen, I wish all Thais to achieve success and health in life and travel safely during Songkran," Prayut said.
Phra Sri Rattanatrai is a term used in Buddhism for the three jewels: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
This year, Songkran has once again become a significant event for Thailand as the country continues its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, travel safety and precautions are key to making this holiday memorable and safe for everyone.
