Bang-khwan and khao lampi: new clutches of eggs and hatchlings of the leatherback turtle

A large laying of leatherback turtle eggs on Bang Khwan Beach, Thailand has brought joy to locals and environmentalists as more than 600 turtles have been born and are already swimming in the sea.

Another clutch of eggs was found on Thai Mueang Beach in Khao Lampi - Had Thai Mueang National Park, from which 42 turtles emerged.

There were also eggs from which turtles could not hatch. However, these losses could not overshadow the enthusiastic mood of environmentalists, since the number of turtles born this year was more than 600.

Many people around the world are fighting to save the leatherback turtle, a species that is threatened with extinction due to human intervention in the natural environment. In this regard, conservationists and Thai government organizations such as DMCR monitor and protect the nests of leatherback turtle eggs in order to preserve this species in nature. We hope that the future of turtles will be brighter thanks to conservation efforts and people's awareness that their actions can harm the environment.
