Record deal: unprecedented price for an albino buffalo in Thailand

In Thailand's Phetburi province, an unprecedented event took place with the sale of a unique albino buffalo of gigantic size. This unusual specimen was purchased by a farm from Chiang Mai for a record sum of 18 million baht (about 500 thousand US dollars), which became the largest transaction of this kind in the history of Thailand.

The five-year-old buffalo, named Ko Muang Phet, is astonishingly large at 180 centimeters tall. This makes him the undisputed champion giant buffalo in the country. Now, however, the days of competition are over for him, and the animal is preparing for a new role - conceiving the next generation of miraculous albinos.

A genetic marvel: unique breeding prospects

Ko Muang Phet is considered not just a large farm animal, but a true genetic miracle. It is estimated to have a 90 percent chance of passing on albino traits to its offspring, opening up a whole new horizon in the cattle breeding industry.

According to former owner Damrongsak Morakot, a unique buffalo breeder like Ko Muang Phet is capable of generating an annual income of over 7-8 million baht. Buffalo breeding is a lucrative occupation that allows for a decent standard of living for many farming families.

A star of the screen: from agriculture to national television

In addition to his remarkable physical characteristics, Ko Muang Phet has another talent - acting. This albino buffalo played the role of the main character's companion in the popular Thai drama "In the Village" (2024), broadcast on 3HD. Thanks to his screen debut, Ko Muang Phet has gained widespread fame not only among agricultural professionals but also among ordinary viewers.

Damrongsak Morakot, the former owner of this unique buffalo, expressed his hope that the Thai buffalo breeding industry will become global and attract international attention. In his opinion, when Thailand is mentioned, Thai buffaloes should be associated with Thai buffaloes, allowing farmers to sell them at favorable prices.
