Tubing in Thailand: An unusual way to relax in nature

More than 500 tourists took part in a two-day tubing event on the Pai River in Mae Hong Son province. Organized by the Provincial Tourism Authority of Thailand on Thursday and Friday, with the support of local authorities and private companies, the event was meant to be a postponed holiday of Songkran, the Thai New Year, which was celebrated last week in most regions of the country and this week in some areas.

Although tubing is a popular activity among tourists, it must be remembered that safety should always come first. The water level in the river can reach 3 meters during the rains, so swimming is only allowed during the dry season.

It was a collaborative event between the public and private sectors as well as other stakeholders. Among them were the district office, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Pai Tourism Business Association and local tubing service operators.
