Modernization of roads and airport for 30 million tourists
According to the plans of the Ministry of Transport, the lion's share of funds will go to the construction of modern high-speed highways connecting Phuket with neighboring provinces. This will allow millions of vacationers from Thailand and neighboring countries to get to the island by car and bus.
Streets on the island itself will also be widened to relieve endless traffic jams. It is planned to build interchanges and flyovers to optimize traffic flows.
To accommodate the growing flow of air passengers, a second Phuket airport is planned to be built. This will relieve the overcrowded existing airport terminal.
The realization of all these ambitious projects should begin as early as 2024. By 2026, part of the roads and airports will be completed. As a result, Phuket will be able to receive up to 30 million tourists a year.

Phuket - the future pearl of Asia
According to the authorities, the modernization of infrastructure will turn Phuket into a kind of Thai Gateway to Asia. The island will become the largest tourist hub in the region and the locomotive of the national economy.
Improved transportation accessibility will also open Phuket to large-scale foreign investment, promoting business and trade.
Thailand as a whole is aiming for rapid growth in the tourism industry. To this end, the government is introducing "visa vacations" for citizens of many countries and actively modernizing the infrastructure of key resorts.
Local authorities support the government's plans. They are also preparing their own proposals to improve Phuket - from modernizing sewage systems to improving safety on the streets. These initiatives will be presented to the Prime Minister during his visit soon.
All are keen to unlock Phuket's enormous potential and turn it into the jewel of Asia as quickly as possible. And ambitious infrastructure projects are the first step on that path.
