In the May 14 elections, the Prachachat Party is promising to introduce a range of welfare programs that will provide full care for Thai citizens throughout their lives. The party's secretary, Colonel Tavi Sodsong, said the policy measures are aimed at improving the quality of life for Thais if the party wins the election.
Party spokesman, Wan Muhammad Noor Mata, along with 19 MP candidates, visited Thais working in Malaysia, where he asked the Malaysian Foreign Minister to facilitate the process of obtaining a work permit for Thais and expand employment opportunities for foreigners so that Thai chefs can work in restaurants in Malaysia without being forced to leave the country to extend tourist visas.
The party is also asking the Malaysian government to reimburse the cost of obtaining a work permit for Thais working in various cities in Malaysia. A restaurant chain has asked the party to ease the work permit process for Thais and raise the age limit for employment from 45 to 55.
As an additional measure of support, the party has proposed facilitating the process of returning the bodies of deceased Thais to their homeland.
