Pheu Thai prime ministerial candidate Stretta Tawisin vowed to fight poverty and inequality in Thailand if he is elected as the country's 30th prime minister. Speaking at a campaign event called "One Team for All Thais," Stretta, who recently stepped down as CEO of real estate company Sansiri, vowed to rebuild the country's economy after three years of Covid-19.
He also proposed a digital wallet policy that would provide people over 16 with 10,000 baht to spend at stores within four kilometers of their home for six months. This policy will help stimulate the grassroots economy and increase tax revenues.
Stretta stressed that the economic stimulus measures taken by the current government only benefited certain groups, resulting in economic disparity. To solve this problem, the Pheu Thai government will look for new channels for Thai manufacturers to enter the world market, negotiate with other countries for trade and visa-free travel, and create jobs for Thais. In addition, the party will focus on upgrading infrastructure to world standards, expanding airports and railways to make Thailand a transportation hub covering air, rail and water transportation.
Stretta also pledged to manage natural resources, fight floods and air pollution, and work for cooperation among all groups to develop Thailand. He reiterated that his goal was to fight poverty and not seek conflict with others.
