30 million lost: Thai spouses didn't receive internet order

The dream of winning a large sum of money in the lottery visits many of us. But sometimes, even after buying a winning ticket, it is not so easy to get the prize. This is exactly the situation faced by a couple from Thailand, who bought five winning lottery tickets online, but never received them in time to participate in the drawing. As a result, the couple lost their 30 million baht jackpot.

The online purchase turned out to be a loss of winnings

The story began on October 1, when a state lottery draw was held in Thailand. Narirat Phanphamorn, 37, and her husband decided to try their luck and buy lottery tickets with certain numbers.

The couple first went to a temple to find out the lucky numbers. Having received a vision of the number 20, the couple started looking for suitable tickets in an offline store, but there were no suitable options there.

Then the man turned to an online lottery ticket store. There he ordered five tickets with the number 727202 for 720 baht. The buyer agreed to pay upon receipt of the order from the courier.

However, the tickets were not delivered for an unknown reason. When it was revealed on October 1 that number 727202 had won the jackpot of 6 million baht, the couple were shocked - their winnings could have totaled 30 million baht!

No tickets, no winnings

Upon learning of the results of the draw, Narirat immediately contacted the online store. However, they said that the tickets were returned because the buyer did not answer the courier's call.

Though in fact, according to the man, there were no unanswered calls in his phone history. He suspected that the store deliberately delayed the delivery of the winning tickets.

In response, the online seller sent a clarification that according to the company's rules, claims on delivery are accepted only until 16:00 on the day of the lottery. Since the appeal came later, the store refused to recognize the customers' rights to the winnings.

The legal fight over the jackpot

Not agreeing with this decision, the couple filed a police report against the owner of the online store. As evidence, they provided correspondence about the purchase and a photo of the winning tickets.

The couple's lawyer expressed confidence that the lottery tickets legally belonged to the store's customers, so they were entitled not only to receive them, but also to the entire winnings.

The case is now in litigation. The outcome could be an important precedent for protecting the rights of online lottery ticket buyers. In the meantime, the Thai couple remains in limbo, having failed to receive their potential big winnings. But they have not given up hope of getting justice through the courts.
