Thai airlines are growing aggressively

Thailand's aviation industry is showing signs of sustained recovery with 9 new airlines registered in 2023 and passenger traffic continues to grow.

Registration of new air carriers

According to the head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, 9 companies have applied for air operator certificates to start commercial air transportation this year. These include traditional airlines as well as seaplane and helicopter operators.

The certification process involves a thorough review of the companies' business plans, financial condition and service standards. This is necessary to ensure flight safety and compliance with all legal requirements.

The opening of new air carriers is important for the development of Thailand's economy.

Expansion of transportation network

New airlines are expanding the air passenger and cargo transportation network across the country. This increases transportation accessibility to remote areas and boosts tourism.

In addition, market competition is driving modernization of regional airports and air traffic control systems. This attracts additional investments in Thailand's aviation infrastructure.

Improved transportation connectivity between regions of the kingdom promotes the economic integration of the areas and enhances the mobility of the population.

Passenger traffic recovery

The aviation authority forecasts that Thailand's airports will serve 127 million passengers in 2023. This is almost 80% of the 2019 level of 160 million air passengers.

In 2024, passenger traffic is expected to fully recover to pre-crisis levels and even exceed them (162 million passengers).
