Thailand is the world market leader in rice due to its high quality

According to Mrs. Representative Anuchy Burapachaysri, rice exports from Thailand in the first quarter of this year increased by 8.48% compared to last year and amounted to more than 2 million tons. The total export value was 38.06 billion baht, up 29.26% from a year earlier.

The largest volume was acquired by Iraq at 16.38%, followed by Indonesia (13.08%), the United States (8.62%), South Africa (8.24%) and Senegal (5.86%).

It is noteworthy that such success was made possible due to the promotion of Thai rice in the world market and the high quality of products. President Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked the organizations involved in this achievement and urged them to maintain high quality standards in order to maintain the reputation of Thai rice in the world market.

To improve the quality and expand the range, the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand organized the forum "Thai Rice Convention 2023" in Chiang Rai on April 24-25. The main purpose of the event is to improve the skills among farmers, share experiences on how to grow different types of rice and check the quality before export.

The forum will also discuss the topic "Thailand's Rice Strategy (2020-2024)", which aims to increase the share of Thai rice in the world market. Under this strategy, the Thai Ministry of Commerce plans to export 7.5 to 8 million tons of rice this year.
