The Thai authorities have decided to exclude the COVID-19 virus from the number of diseases in the presence of which visiting the country is prohibited. The relevant regulation was adopted by the national cabinet of ministers.
At the same time, restrictions remain on visits to the country by persons suffering from chronic alcoholism or other dangerous diseases.
Recall that the national government plans to attract up to 10 million tourists to the country during 2022, and so far this task has been completed only by 50%. Whether it will be possible to achieve the goals set, even taking into account the beginning of the high season, is still difficult to predict.
Another measure to support the tourism industry in the country is to increase the length of stay in the country under the visa-free regime and visa on arrival. The corresponding decision was made by the government of the country and announced by the press service.
In the first case, it will be possible to stay in the country up to 45 days, while using the second scheme, up to 30 days. In both cases, the time interval for staying in the country was extended by 15 days. The new rules will come into effect from the beginning of October. The new form of support is expected to increase the length of stay for foreigners in Thailand by an average of five days.
