Child Care in Bangkok: Developing a Child Rights Policy

Lord Sanon Wangsrangbun, Deputy Governor of the Bangkok Municipal Administration (BMA), announced the launch of a "Child Protection Policy" to strengthen the city's commitment to children's rights. Sanon opened a meeting of the seminar participants at the city hall on Tuesday, the full implementation of the policy is scheduled for October this year.

"The workshop will familiarize officials with the sequence of actions in case of emergencies or incidents affecting children in order to ensure timely security," he told Sanon. He added that the workshop is the first step in educating key groups such as city leaders, officials, teachers and nannies in BMA schools and kindergartens. The goal is to teach them how to provide the best care for children and understand what is forbidden in interacting with and treating them.

The initiative also promotes children's participation in the development of school rules and opens the door for their suggestions on topical issues such as school uniforms, hairstyles, education and safety issues.

Summing up the seminar, Sanon encouraged the participants to network with colleagues and launch child protection policies in their areas of activity. The main goal is to make Bangkok the first province in Thailand to fully implement this policy, integrating it into all institutions related to children's issues.

"We are committed to ensuring that all children are safe from all forms of violence and abuse so that they can grow into worthy citizens who can help the development of the city," he said.

Thus, Bangkok takes an important step in protecting children and guaranteeing their rights to safety and participation in public processes. This policy will be the foundation for the progress and prosperity of the city, and Bangkok will be the most advanced region in Thailand in the field of children's rights.
