Prices for Koh Lipe

Koh Lipe is one of the most expensive islands in Thailand. The difficulties of logistics and tourist popularity have led to the fact that prices there are 2 times higher than in the northern part of the country.

At the same time, Koh Lipe is part of the Tarutao National Natural Park, and you will have to pay 200 baht for visiting the protected area. It is better to carry this ticket with you so that you do not have to pay twice.

  • As an example, a speed boat between the islands costs $20-$50 depending on the distance of the trip.
  • The cost of housing for two - from $ 30 for a bungalow 100 meters from the coast to $ 120 for a full-fledged hotel, with a pool and on the coastline.
  • Access to the beaches and the use of beach towels and toilets are free.
  • A boat for half a day (from morning to noon) with a captain can be rented for $50.
  • For three meals a day you will have to pay $ 10-20 per person (per day). Budget option - do not order fish dishes.
  • Beer, if bought in grocery stores - $ 2, and in local bars already $ 3.
  • Wine is also sold on the island, but the cheapest bottle will cost $15-20. From hard alcohol they sell good local rum for $ 5-6 per bottle.

The price tag for dishes in a cafe, interestingly, is almost the same as in other resort areas of Thailand. But the products are much more expensive, as they are delivered from the mainland. This is most noticeable in prices in 7-Eleven chain stores.

The cost of some products for example:

  • One and a half liters of water in the network 7-eleven costs 26 baht (in other local stores, smaller 6 packs of 1.5 liters of water can be bought for 100 baht). Coffee in the same place - 60-65 baht. Yogurt costs 21 baht. Beer 0.6 l - 90 baht, for comparison, in a local shop 65 baht.
  • Ready-to-eat meals: crusty lunches (rice and meat) at 7-eleven - 70-80 baht, spring rolls 40-70 baht.
  • In a cafe - fish about 240 baht, squid or shrimp 150 baht, tom yum - 120-150 baht, rice with meat or seafood about 80 baht. For a steak, you will have to pay 450 baht. Coffee - 70-90 baht, breakfast in a cafe 200-300 baht.

Cost of living in Koh Lipe

On the island of Koh Lipe, there is a very large selection of accommodation options, from budget guesthouses and hostels to expensive hotels. The cheapest accommodation option is camping in a tent, costing about 500 baht per night. A room in a guest house will cost twice as much, and the cheapest hotel, where the rooms have air conditioning and hot water, starts from 1,500 baht. The average cost of a hotel in the high season is around 1500-2000 baht, while in peak seasons it can grow one and a half to two times. In the low season, some hotels stop working and prices become lower. But the weather is not for everyone, as the rainy season begins, and the waves become higher and stronger.

Most of the hotels on the island are built as bungalows, they are located mainly on the first line - right by the sea. If you didn’t manage to book a hotel by the sea and the view of the sea from the window is not important, you don’t need to be upset - on a small Koh Lipe from anywhere in the island to the sea, a maximum of 10 minutes walk.
