The first in the list of attractions can be called the oldest shrine in Phuket - Put-Cho, which is a Chinese temple built more than two centuries ago in honor of the goddess of mercy, whose statue, surrounded by dragons, greets visitors in the courtyard of the temple.
Not far from Put-Cho, in the place where the governor's residence used to be, there is now the building of the provincial administration. The mansion, decorated with stucco and a colonnade at the main entrance, was built in the 20s of the last century and is an example of the colonial style. In one of the films about the Vietnam War, the administration building served as a set. Opposite the mansion is the Provincial Court, housed in a 1916 Portuguese-style building.
One of the popular places among Phuket residents is the lively market located on Rasada Street. Here from 5 am to 11.00 you can buy everything you need. Phuket has a wide variety of markets, open both during the day and at night, offering tourists a wide range of goods to choose from.
Around the places where the largest hotels are located, there is a huge number of a wide variety of retail shops that offer all kinds of goods and services: from a tailoring workshop to shops selling jewelry. The largest concentration of outlets is located in Patong.
One of the brightest examples of the Sino-Portuguese architectural style popular in Thailand is the building of the oldest Standard Chartered bank. A bright, sunny building, with a snow-white arched decor, attracts all tourists with its appearance. Inside the building there is a small museum, which presents an exhibition dedicated to the cultural traditions that emerged as a result of the coexistence of indigenous people and Chinese migrants. The museum is open to the public only at certain times.
