There is no airport on Koh Phangan. It can only be reached by ferry. Many companies offer their services of sea transportation. You can get to the island from the cities: Chumphon, Suratthani and Donsak and Koh Samui, which also has an airport.

Planes do not fly to Koh Phangan. There is only a small platform located in the mountains. This square has been empty for a long time, but sometimes the announcement pops up in the news about the resumption of construction, but in fact nothing happens. In general, at the moment there are no direct flights from Bangkok to Koh Phangan. Transfer flights too. The only option is to fly to the nearest city, and then travel by sea.

Bangkok + ferry

This is the fastest and most convenient option, but it will also be expensive. A flight on the route Bangkok - Koh Samui from Bangkok Airways costs 3600 - 3800 baht. The flight is only an hour. Getting to Koh Phangan from Koh Samui is very easy. There are several piers from where speedboats depart (fast boats with a capacity of 20-30 people).

Plan your plane tickets in advance. It is not a fact that you will be able to purchase a ticket in advance, a day or two in advance. Now there are many services and applications with which it is quite simple to buy a ticket. You can also book a ticket on the official website of the airline.

The best way to get from the airport to the pier is by taxi. For a trip to the pier you will pay approximately 370 baht. You can also catch a motorcycle taxi driver who will ask for only 70 baht for the trip, but he will only take you if you have a small bag or backpack from your luggage. This option is cheaper, but the trip to the island will take longer. You can book a flight from AirAsia or NokAir. Their planes fly from the domestic airport Don Muang, which is also located in the capital of Thailand, to the cities of Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Low-cost airlines are low-cost airlines that offer to purchase a ticket for a small fee. Just at the Don Muang airport these companies are based. And do not forget to add at least an hour to travel from Suvarnabhumi to Don Muang in your schedule.

Train to Chumphon + ferry

There is only one branch that leads from Bangkok to the south of the country. The distance from the capital to Chumphon is 350 km, to Suratthani - about 730 km. You can drive to Chumphon and then take the ferry.

Lompraya Pier is located 30 km from the station. If there are no traffic jams on the roads, then you will reach it in about 45 minutes. Mataphone Pier is the property of Songserm. It is located 18 km from the railway station. It takes about 35 minutes to get there. Boats leave every day at 07:00. Ticket price - 900 - 1000 baht. The trip will last approximately 5 hours.

Train to Suratthani city + bus (or taxi) + ferry

Combined tickets cannot be booked with Lomprayi, but you can book your seats using a special service. After payment, you collect boarding passes for the train, bus and ferry. The Bangkok - Surat Thani train takes 13 hours. During this time, tourists can get a good night's sleep.

At the exit from the station building, passengers immediately go to the transfer, which is waiting for them with a special sign. The total fare (train + bus + ferry) varies from 1700 to 2400 baht per person.

Songserm Express offers to purchase such a complex ticket. It can be issued through the Internet on the site, there are many options. The cost will depend on the location of the shelf and the class of the car. These tickets also need to be picked up from company employees in the office. The approximate cost is 1400 - 2100 baht per person. The train departs from Hua Lamphong Station daily: at 17:05, 18:30, 19:30. The trip will also last 12-13 hours.

So far, only the Lompraya company offers its customers a bus ride through this city. Boarding passes can also be ordered online. You need to book a ticket three days before departure, and this reservation should be confirmed 24 hours in advance. This can be done in person or by phone.

Songserm Express does not offer this type of transportation to its customers, although they have their own pier in Chumphon. Buses from government organizations go only to the city of Donsak. There are currently no flights to Chumphon.

Bus to the pier in Donsak + ferry

You have several options. The first is trips on state buses. Transport picks up passengers from the South Bus Station in the capital. You can buy tickets for the trip either at the box office (third floor at the bus station) or online. The price for one person is 900 - 1000 baht. There is also a VIP ticket, which will cost about 1600 - 1700 baht. The trip will last approximately 13 hours, so it is better to take tickets for night flights. You should also take warm clothes with you, because the air conditioners are working inside the bus and it can be cool.

Seatran Discovery Discovery offers its customers to buy a complex ticket for 1400 baht. The bus departs from the company's office at 20:00, and the next day at 13:30 you will be on the island.

Songserm also sells package tickets. Its buses pick up tourists from the main office and the railway station. All flights are overnight. Buses leave at 18:00, 19:00 and 20:00. Tourists arrive on the island the next day at 12:15. The cost of such a move to Koh Phangan will be 1000 - 1100 baht per person.
