Important to know about Krabi

Resort safety

Crowded places attract thieves and scammers. The crowded resort of Krabi is no exception. You may encounter other unpleasant moments. Despite the generally favorable crime situation in the province, precautions should be taken.

Proximity to nature does not always have a positive effect on relaxation - walking along the beach and the island, you can meet a flock of monkeys. Do not forget that, despite the cute faces and funny habits, these are wild animals. Monkeys can take away from a tourist both food and more valuable things. In addition, the animal may bite. If you are willing to take the risk and communicate with these representatives of the fauna, do not smile at them - exposed teeth are perceived as aggression.

When swimming in the sea, pay attention to the warning signs - they will indicate the presence of a dangerous undercurrent (Rip Current). Listen to the advice of local residents and beach staff - if they say it's dangerous to go into the water, most likely it is.

Exotic nature is beautiful, but it can be dangerous. At the resort you will meet many unfamiliar and unusual living creatures, but do not rush to touch the plant, insect or marine life you like. Some of them are poisonous, some can bite or sting.

Mobile communication and Internet

Buying a SIM card from a local operator will help reduce communication costs. There are three of them in Thailand: 1-2-Call, TrueMove and DACT Happy. The advantages of the first option include a large coverage area. And the DACT Happy card is suitable for travelers who do not speak English - it does not need to be activated.

Internet access in Krabi is provided by Wi-Fi, ADSL or 3G points. Even in the provincial capital, the quality of communication is much worse than in large Russian cities. On the islands, the connection is even weaker.

Despite the weakness of the signal, the Internet and cellular communications in Krabi are stable and work without interruption. Cafes and hotels offer free Wi-Fi. The province has three major mobile carriers: DTAC, TrueMove and AIS. Each of them has special rates for tourists.

  • DTAC - "Happy Tourist SIM". Price: 50 THB; benefits: 30 MGb of Internet; 15 THB immediately credited to the account.
  • TrueMove - "3G Tourist Inter SIM". Price: 50 THB; advantages: kits are distributed free of charge by promoters at the airport; 10 THB will be credited to the account, and 20 MGb of Internet will be available.
  • AIS - "Traveller SIM". Price: 300 THB; advantages: 1 Gb 3G Internet; 100 THB is immediately credited to the account.

To issue a tourist package from the operator, you need to draw up a contract for the provision of services with the provision of passport data. You can buy a SIM card both directly at the city offices of operators, and at Tesco Lotus, Family Mart or 7-Eleven supermarkets. They also sell cards that allow you to replenish your phone account for a certain amount: 50, 100, 300 THB. However, the most convenient and common way to pay for communication services is via the Internet.
