Not far from Chiang Mai is a canyon. The Thais even call it the Grand Canyon. In fact, this is a quarry, and the word "grand" does not fit him at all.

It is located about 20 km southwest of the city center. On the road you can see a small sign with the inscription "Grand Canyon". It is better to follow in this direction, and not on the navigator. Some maps will show you a different path that will not take you to the quarry itself. At the end of the path you will see tall houses that will not allow you to pass further.

You can get to the place by taxi or car. On the way, you can go to Mount Doi Kham. A beautiful temple was built there. There is a small parking lot next to the entrance to the Grand Canyon. It may not be possible to park the car, because it is quite crowded here.

A tuk-tuk or songteo ride from the center of Chiang Mai to the canyon itself will cost you 600 baht. The price also includes waiting near the canyon. It is best to gather a company of several people to share the fare for everyone - it will be cheaper this way.

The territory of the canyon is a private property. You can get here only from 9.00 to 19.00. Entrance is paid, although a year ago you could get here without paying. During this time, a lot has changed. They decided to ennoble the territory, so they began to take 60 baht from each visitor. By the way, one iced herbal drink is included in the ticket price.

There is a cafe where anyone can have a bite to eat. Bringing your own food and drinks is not allowed. For this you face a fine of 600 baht.

There is a very beautiful place in the center of the canyon. Here you will definitely get great photos. Also this place is intended for jumping into the water. There are only two of them here: one is located near the entrance, and the second is further away. On the first one, the height is 9 meters, and on the other - 15.

You can also rent tubing here. Hiring a rubber tube will cost you 60 baht, and you will also have to leave a deposit of 120 - 150 baht. You must wear a life jacket for tubing.
